Coaching

We don’t have to learn how to be present, we know how. However, sometimes we forget, and we need to be reminded.
Health and Fitness
My training and experience working with the body offers you a wide range of possibilities that include increased strength, flexibility and endurance. I will work with you to create individualized training routines. If you are already engaged in a practice like yoga, martial arts, weightlifting, swimming, running, cycling, circus training, etc. I will work with you to ensure that you are engaging in these physical activities with proper form and efficiency for your body. I help people train to prevent injury and if you are already injured, help you in the recovery process. The foundation of my training involves movement education so that you can achieve your desired results and learn about how your body works in the process.
We are all unique individuals, and no two bodies are the same. Sometimes taking classes on-line or in person, instructions are given which may not take into consideration your specific circumstances. I will help you adapt the vocabulary of what you have learned, for your individual body, and your lifestyle. I will teach you how to discern and adapt instructions when you take the classes you love.
Communication Skills and Public Speaking
Human expression originates in the body, which is an instrument of communication involving breath, movement, and voice. Human relationships rest in large measure on clear communication, which depend on present moment skilled listening and effective speaking. Skillful listening and speaking support success in personal and professional relationships and civic engagement.

I have developed several courses; Teaching as Performance, The Art of Presentation, and the Body of Knowledge, which adapt performance techniques to help you enhance your communication and presentation skills. I will help you identify what your natural communication gifts are and what your natural communication style is. I will help you build confidence by teaching you to engage your natural skills as you communicate, thereby eliminating habitual patterns that may be limiting your ability to communicate effectively.
I work with individuals, groups, communities, and organizations. I also have applied my techniques to conflict resolution, mediation, social justice, and team building.

Performance Coaching
Performing artists spend enormous amounts of time practicing the techniques of their craft and then share their gifts in a variety of performance venues. The act of performing, whether it be for an audition or for a public audience, is a vulnerable experience. Teaching performers how to recognize how fear plays a role in their vulnerability and to successfully navigate through their fear is not usually taught in performing arts training. In our sessions we will explore together how fear and vulnerability are affecting how you perform and develop strategies to successfully do your work.

The life of a performer puts strong demands on our bodies and on our minds and there is often a tendency to override listening to ourselves. I will work with you to find ways to slow down enough so that you can listen to yourself, without interfering with the fast pace of a professional life.
My performance coaching practice is individually designed. I will share techniques specifically oriented to your performance area. Although there are common elements for all performers, there are also unique circumstances that differ between an actor, dancer, musician, circus performer, athlete, soldier, etc.
During a session I will give you exercises you can easily integrate into your technique practice.
